How to Pick a Dissertation Topic

My standard advice for someone looking to find a dissertation topic is to do what I did…head to a resort in the Caribbean. I went to Puerto Rico but any island will do the trick. Take an afternoon to go the bar by the beach or water and think about what topic that you can do that your committee and department will accept and will be the quickest path to getting done.
